At the concert 5000 children took part including us making it the biggest children's concert in the world! We had all worked very hard and had a great time and all the parents really enjoyed it!

Final arrangements!

Dear Parents/carers

The final arrangements for the Young Voices concert in Sheffield!

Lunch time:

Children will be having an early lunch at school – if your child would like a hot dinner that day please fill in the Christmas dinner slip and send the money into the office. This may be a good idea as they will be having a packed lunch for their tea.

We will then be leaving on the coach at 12:30pm.

If you would like to make a contribution towards the cost of the coach – please send £5 in with your child this week. Thank you to those parents who have already sent in the money.

Timings:

Arrival – 1:45pm – 2:00pm children arrive at arena

Rehearsal begins – 2:30pm

5:00pm – Hour tea break (children stay in arena with school staff)

6:00pm – Door open for audience.

7:00pm – concert commences.

Approx 9:15pm – concert ends.

We will escort the children out of the arena and wait for you to collect your child at the main entrance facing the car park (see attached picture.) Please be aware that this is an extremely busy time and it is essential that your child stays with us until we have completed a final head count. Please do not leave with your child without informing a member of staff.

T-shirts, hats and torches:

Please ensure your child attends school in their school uniform and brings a white t-shirt or a young voices t-shirt to change into. Their school trousers or skirt will be fine to wear at the concert as we have to wear dark bottoms and white t-shirts – these are the organisers rules!!.

Children also have the opportunity to bring Santa hats and small battery operated torches to add to the Christmas effect of the evening! We will collect the torches we have bought once we arrive at the arena.

Food and drink:

Please provide a packed, substantial tea with drink and include an additional water bottle for your child as we will be eating in the arena before the concert. You child requires no money as there is no opportunity to buy anything.

Thank you for all of your support you have provided at home, learning the songs! Looking forward to seeing you in Sheffield!

Message from Young Voices!

We have had so many calls over the years about torches and have had to leave it to parents. Often torches cost at least £1 or more and some have beams which destroy the stars at night effect.
Please let parents know to save them the cost and effort of purchasing torches we have managed to acquire quality key ring tiny torches that include the Young Voices logo and last for hours at a very reasonable price and these will be available to purchase on the day of your concert. These can be purchased as you arrive at the arena or during the afternoon break for only 50p each.

It would look amazing if every child had a tiny torch which could be shone when the conductor indicates. This would create a truly starry, starry night effect!

If you would like to purchase a torch for the Young Voices concert send in 50p in a named envelope before the 4th of November. We will collate numbers and let the arena know how many are required and then we will purchase them all together at the arena!

Thank you

Miss Hulme and Mrs Foster.
